Team Chat

NEURO includes built-in team chat for real-time collaboration. Communicate with team members, share findings, and coordinate on projects without leaving the platform.

Chat features include:

  • Direct messages (DMs)
  • Project channels
  • Client channels
  • File sharing
  • @mentions
  • Message search
  1. Click the Chat icon in the navigation header
  2. Chat panel opens on the right side
  3. View conversations and rooms

Press + Shift + C to toggle chat.

Private one-on-one conversations:

  1. Click + New Message
  2. Search for team member
  3. Start conversation

DM features:

  • Private and encrypted
  • Persistent history
  • File sharing
  • Online status indicator

Each project has an automatic channel:

  • All project team members included
  • Discuss project-specific topics
  • Share findings and updates
  • Coordinate activities

Access:

  1. Open project
  2. Click Chat in project header
  3. Or find in Chat → Project Channels

For client communication:

  • Created per client
  • Include client portal users
  • Share updates and requests
  • Keep client informed

Organization-wide channels:

  • #general - Company-wide announcements
  • #security - Security discussions
  • #random - Off-topic chat
  1. Select a conversation
  2. Type in the message field
  3. Press Enter to send

Support for markdown:

  • Bold: **text**
  • Italic: *text*
  • Code: `code`
  • Links: [text](url)

Share files in chat:

  1. Click the **** attachment icon
  2. Select file (images, documents)
  3. Add optional message
  4. Send

Supported: PNG, JPEG, GIF, PDF, DOCX (max 50MB)

Notify specific people:

  • @username - Mention individual
  • @channel - Notify all members
  • @here - Notify online members

Share a finding in chat:

  1. Open the finding
  2. Click ShareTo Chat
  3. Select conversation
  4. Finding card appears in chat

Receive notifications for:

  • Direct messages
  • @mentions
  • New messages in channels

Customize per channel:

  1. Open channel settings ()
  2. Set notification preference:
    • All messages
    • @mentions only
    • Nothing

Mute notifications:

  1. Click your avatar
  2. Select Do Not Disturb
  3. Set duration

Edit your sent messages:

  1. Hover over message
  2. Click Edit (pencil icon)
  3. Modify text
  4. Save changes

Remove your messages:

  1. Hover over message
  2. Click Delete (trash icon)
  3. Confirm deletion

Add emoji reactions:

  1. Hover over message
  2. Click React (emoji icon)
  3. Select emoji

Find past messages:

  1. Click search icon in chat
  2. Enter search terms
  3. Filter by:
    • Channel/DM
    • Person
    • Date range
  4. View results
  • Use quotes for exact phrases
  • Filter by from:username
  • Filter by in:channel
  • Use has:file for attachments
  • Keep project discussions in project channels
  • Use DMs for private matters
  • @mention only when necessary
  • Be concise and clear
  • Pin important messages
  • Use threads for long discussions
  • Archive inactive channels
  • Clean up old files periodically
  • Don’t share sensitive credentials
  • Use NEURO features for findings
  • Be mindful of client channels
  • Report suspicious activity

Access chat on mobile devices:

  • Responsive web interface
  • Push notifications
  • Full functionality
  • Check internet connection
  • Refresh the page
  • Try a different browser
  • Contact support if persistent
  • Check notification settings
  • Verify browser permissions
  • Check Do Not Disturb status
  • Review channel settings
