Quick Start Guide
Section titled “Quick Start Guide”This guide will help you create your first security assessment project in NEURO in under 10 minutes.
Prerequisites
Section titled “Prerequisites”Before you begin, ensure you have:
- An active NEURO account
- Access credentials (email and password)
- Two-factor authentication set up (required)
Step 1: Log In to NEURO
Section titled “Step 1: Log In to NEURO”- Navigate to your organization’s NEURO instance (e.g.,
yourcompany.nforged.com) - Enter your email address and password
- Complete two-factor authentication using your authenticator app
- You’ll be directed to the Dashboard
Step 2: Create a Client
Section titled “Step 2: Create a Client”Before creating a project, you need a client to associate it with.
- Click Clients in the navigation menu
- Click the + New Client button
- Fill in the client details:
- Name: The client’s organization name
- Contact Email: Primary point of contact
- Industry: Select the appropriate industry
- Logo (optional): Upload the client’s logo
- Click Create Client
Step 3: Create Your First Project
Section titled “Step 3: Create Your First Project”- Navigate to Projects or use G + P
- Click + New Project or use C + P
- Complete the project form:

| Project Name | Descriptive name (e.g., “Q1 2025 External Pentest”) |
| Client | Select the client you created |
| Project Type | External, Internal, Web App, Mobile, etc. |
| Start Date | Engagement start date |
| End Date | Expected completion date |
| Status | Set to “Not Started” or “In Progress” |
- Click Create Project
Step 4: Add Assets
Section titled “Step 4: Add Assets”Assets represent the targets of your assessment.
- Open your newly created project
- Navigate to the Assets tab
- You can add assets in two ways:
Manual Entry
Section titled “Manual Entry”- Click + Add Asset
- Enter asset details (IP, hostname, type)
- Click Save
Nmap Import (Recommended)
Section titled “Nmap Import (Recommended)”- Click Import from Nmap
- Upload your Nmap XML scan file
- Review discovered assets
- Click Import Selected
Step 5: Document Findings
Section titled “Step 5: Document Findings”As you discover vulnerabilities, document them in NEURO.
- Navigate to the Findings tab in your project
- Click + New Finding or use C + F
- Enter the finding details:
Basic Information
Section titled “Basic Information”- Title: Clear, descriptive vulnerability name
- Severity: Critical, High, Medium, Low, Informational
- Status: Open, Confirmed, Remediated, etc.
AI-Assisted Entry
Section titled “AI-Assisted Entry”- Enter just the vulnerability title
- Click Generate with AI
- The AI will populate:
- Technical description
- Impact statement
- Remediation steps
- CVSS score
- References
Evidence
Section titled “Evidence”-
Click the Evidence tab

Upload screenshots or files

Add notes describing the evidence

Click Save Finding
Step 6: Generate a Report
Section titled “Step 6: Generate a Report”Once you’ve documented your findings, generate a professional report.
- Navigate to the Reports section or click Generate Report in your project
- Select a report template
- Configure report options:
- Include executive summary
- Select findings to include
- Choose severity threshold
- Click Generate Report
- Download the DOCX file
