Quick Start Guide

This guide will help you create your first security assessment project in NEURO in under 10 minutes.

Before you begin, ensure you have:

  • An active NEURO account
  • Access credentials (email and password)
  • Two-factor authentication set up (required)
  1. Navigate to your organization’s NEURO instance (e.g., yourcompany.nforged.com)
  2. Enter your email address and password
  3. Complete two-factor authentication using your authenticator app
  4. You’ll be directed to the Dashboard

Before creating a project, you need a client to associate it with.

  1. Click Clients in the navigation menu
  2. Click the + New Client button
  3. Fill in the client details:
    • Name: The client’s organization name
    • Contact Email: Primary point of contact
    • Industry: Select the appropriate industry
    • Logo (optional): Upload the client’s logo
  4. Click Create Client
  1. Navigate to Projects or use G + P
  2. Click + New Project or use C + P
  3. Complete the project form:

Project NameDescriptive name (e.g., “Q1 2025 External Pentest”)
ClientSelect the client you created
Project TypeExternal, Internal, Web App, Mobile, etc.
Start DateEngagement start date
End DateExpected completion date
StatusSet to “Not Started” or “In Progress”
  1. Click Create Project

Assets represent the targets of your assessment.

  1. Open your newly created project
  2. Navigate to the Assets tab
  3. You can add assets in two ways:
  1. Click + Add Asset
  2. Enter asset details (IP, hostname, type)
  3. Click Save
  1. Click Import from Nmap
  2. Upload your Nmap XML scan file
  3. Review discovered assets
  4. Click Import Selected

As you discover vulnerabilities, document them in NEURO.

  1. Navigate to the Findings tab in your project
  2. Click + New Finding or use C + F
  3. Enter the finding details:
  • Title: Clear, descriptive vulnerability name
  • Severity: Critical, High, Medium, Low, Informational
  • Status: Open, Confirmed, Remediated, etc.
  1. Enter just the vulnerability title
  2. Click Generate with AI
  3. The AI will populate:
    • Technical description
    • Impact statement
    • Remediation steps
    • CVSS score
    • References
  1. Click the Evidence tab

  2. Upload screenshots or files

  3. Add notes describing the evidence

  4. Click Save Finding

Once you’ve documented your findings, generate a professional report.

  1. Navigate to the Reports section or click Generate Report in your project
  2. Select a report template
  3. Configure report options:
    • Include executive summary
    • Select findings to include
    • Choose severity threshold
  4. Click Generate Report
  5. Download the DOCX file
